Why We Built Kleidi​

The Problem We Saw​

As cryptocurrency adoption grows, so does a troubling reality: holders of significant crypto assets become targets. Not just for hackers, but for physical threats. The infamous "$5 wrench attack"—where someone forces you to hand over your keys—isn't a theoretical concern. It's happening more and more every year.

Traditional wallet security focuses entirely on keeping keys secret. But what happens when keeping keys secret isn't enough? What happens when you're forced to use those keys in ways you didn't intend?

Our Insight​

Time is a security primitive.

If all sensitive operations require a 30-day delay, an attacker would need to maintain control over you for a month. They'd need to:

  • Keep you from accessing your devices
  • Prevent you from contacting anyone
  • Avoid detection for weeks
  • Prevent you from canceling the transaction

This fundamentally changes the risk/reward calculation. Most attacks become impractical.

Keep users' funds safe and out of harm's way.

We believe that true financial sovereignty requires protection from all threats—digital and physical. Users should be able to:

  • Audited twice with zero critical or high-severity issues
  • Formally verified using the Certora Prover
  • Based on battle-tested Gnosis Safe
  • Open source contracts for community review

We don't compromise on security. Ever.

Defense in Depth​

Kleidi combines:

  • Timelock delays to prevent immediate fund transfers
  • Guard restrictions to prevent bypassing security

Multiple overlapping layers mean that even if one defense fails, others remain.

User Sovereignty​

True self-custody means:

  • No trusted third parties required
  • You control the security model
  • Fully open source and auditable contracts
  • Censorship-resistant operation
